destination, Spencer? I want to go to Portugal
because their food looks really good and that’s
where my family is from. Mine’s New Zealand, because
it’s on the other side of the world, which means
it’s already tomorrow there. Therefore it’s like
travelling into the future. I’d like to go to Norway,
because they have so many cool mountains that I

Who what where? No matter where

but traveling is all about experiencing new things. New neighbourhoods. New old historical things
you didn’t know about. New foods. Mmm. Food. Hey guys, I’m in Kensington
Market in downtown Toronto. Now, it might
look small on a map, but it packs in a whole world
of incredible food options in just a few city blocks. First stop on my culinary
adventure: Jamaican patties. Mmm, coco bread is so good. It’s kind of
sweet and super soft. I can’t wait to try it with
the patty in the middle. Patties are a
Jamaican specialty. The most popular
patty is made with beef, but veggie ones are
made with okra and corn. That is so good. It’s like spicy,
then it’s sweet, so good. Time to head
down the street. Got to try some
Venezuelan arepas. Hello.
-You want to order an arepa? Yes please. There you go. I’m going to get the pork arepa
with shredded mozzarella. Thank you so much. I’ve always
wanted to try these. It’s fried cornbread stuffed
with awesomeness like avocado and chicken. The Venezuelan arepa is
famous for its colourful filling and historic name. ‘Beauty queen’ and
‘upper class girl’ are the two most popular. Thank you. The cornbread is
like crispy perfection, and then the stuff inside
is like all my favourite flavours had a party and then
I was the guest of honour. I always like to keep up on
any advances in the field of ice cream technology. So when I heard about this
rolled ice cream spot I knew I had to check it out. Hello. Can I get choco loco? How cold is that? Negative 32 degrees. The pan is
negative 32 degrees. Thank you. Wow, it looks as
pretty as a flower. And it tastes even better. I feel like I should bug my
parents about getting one of those ice cold pans
installed in our house. I hope I inspired you to
take a food tour in your home town. And if you really get into
it you can start a food blog and share your local food

hello guys, it’s Meg, and this is a
minute with MayBaby. I’ve travelled to a
lot of different places, but I think one of my favourite
places was Scotland. My mom took my sister and
I, and we got to go on the train that’s the Hogwarts
Express in Harry Potter, and it was the same driver
who drives it in the movie, and literally just like
pretended that we were on our way to Hogwarts. Scotland was
really really cool. If I was a tour guide in my
city the first place I would take them is, oh, I know,
so there’s this one place, it’s a little kind of
cafeteria style restaurant, and it sells these
random combinations of food. I have never taken someone there
and had them not like it. The second thing I would do,
there’s this observatory place where you can like take a tour, learn about stars, outer
space and all of that, and I went like as a tourist
when I was just visiting LA and I loved it. So whenever people
come I try and be like, let’s go learn
about space, come on. So that’s probably what
I would take them to do. Hey guys, today I’m here

is Aurora James, I’m an accessories designer
and the creative director of Brother Vellies. The road to becoming a designer
was kind of crazy for me. It had a lot of
twists and turns, I didn’t know
what I wanted to be. And I was in Africa, and
started to see how amazing all of the
artisans were there, and I realized they
were losing their jobs. And I said, you know, I
really want to change this and help these people be
able to save their jobs. And that’s how
Brother Vellies was started. I started working with local
artisans there on shoes that they were making, and I was
tweaking them and bringing them back to America, and I
was originally selling them at the flea market, and I just
kind of kept selling shoes. So I never had a
business plan, I never had like
a ton of money, I had never studied
shoe design before. So these were sort
of all road blocks, and I think in life if
you’re really passionate about something it’s really
just figuring out how to keep chipping away every
single day and don’t let a road block be a
permanent thing. We work with so many
artisans all across Africa, but one of my favourite
groups is in Burkina Faso, and it’s women,
mainly single moms, and they do a traditional
type of weaving that they’ve done there for a
couple centuries, and we use that woven fabric
to make our Burkina sandals. I’m really inspired by the
idea that we can use art as a vehicle to
uplift other people. Because it shows how we
can work with each other to create jobs and to
bring, you know, beauty into our lives. I wanted to bring products
into the world in a way that empowered women who were
making the shoes as well as wearing them. I think that’s what makes a
collection really special. Now we all have
maps on our phones, but there’s nothing better
than feasting your eyes on a wall map. We thought, could we make
the world map a little more Arty Party? The answer was, of
course, oh yeah. We’re going to
make a splatter map. We filled these
balloons with paint. We cut out all the continents
to make it a stencil. Our darts are popping them, splattering the paint
all over the map. If you’re going to use
pointy objects like darts, please get your
parents’ permission, be very careful, stand back,
don’t point them at people, be safe. Teyah, pick a continent you’ve
always wanted to visit. Asia. Alright. Ooh, I did it. Now you tell me
where you want to go. Let’s take a trip
to South America. Ha ha! So far we’ve hit
Canada, some states. East Coast Canada.
-Also hit some South America. Oh yeah. Nice. Nice. I’m going to try to
hit this green one. Oh, that was very off. Ah, yay. Two left. Oh. Yay! The last one, right
there in Argentina, let’s get it. What? Yah! Now we’re going to remove
the balloons to try and get the full effect of the map. So here’s the map, we hit a lot
of the places we want to go to. That looks really pretty. I really like how it’s
all splattered around. And that is how you
make a splatter world map. I’m here at Buffer Festival, the premier film
festival for creators. And I’m going to go see what
people think about being a tourist on their own turf. What’s one thing from your
hometown that you haven’t done that you’d like to do? Oh, skydiving. It’s like five
minutes from our house. Ok, so I’m from Toronto and I
want to go to graffiti alley. But I have no idea – You’ve never been there? I don’t know where it is. Ooh, I guess go to a
nice lookout point. Exploring all the
best surf spots. I’ve never seen
the Hollywood sign. And I don’t know why. I look at it, I
see it all the time. One day I will go up there. Oh oh oh. There’s a place in Koreatown
where they have like Korean barbecue bulgogi
beef macaroni and cheese. I’ve done everything I
want to do, so bye. Would you prefer to be the
tourist or the tour guide. I like being able to make
plans and go where people want to go, so I think I’m
a really good tour guide. Not to toot my own horn. [horn honks] I’d rather be the tourist. I’m not a very good leader. The tourist, because
you’re just learning and exploring that way. I think we are
naturally tour guides. One of the good things about
being a travel vlogger is that we’ve done a lot
of the tourist stuff within our own city. Tourist, yeah. I don’t like to tell
people what to do. Lead me around please. Oh, tourist. You just get to go
around, and someone’s like, you know what’s really fun,
this, this is really fun. Definitely tourist. Yeah. I don’t like the pressure
of having to know anything. What do you guys think
of when you hear the term laptop tourist. Laptop tourist? I have no idea
what that means. Oh, it’s probably,
no, that’s not it. Someone who just looks up
places at home and never actually goes
to those places. I’m picturing a man or a
woman on a train on their laptop looking up the next
place that they’re going to be visiting. Or perhaps it would be a
tour of all the newest laptops that are
available to purchase. I think we’re all just kind
of going to these magical mystical worlds, we’re
just streaming through them. We’re all laptop tourists. It’s not over,
there’s more content. Remember when I
made this, guys? Phantom of the Owlpra. Imagine if Savvy had
its own souvenir shop. Um, what’s that look for? That’s Spencer’s I’ve
got a wicked idea look. Guys, I’ve designed a
flag for Savvy and we could totally sell it
in our store. Whoa, nice work, Spence! We can have flag
hats, flag shirts, flag bumper
stickers, flag slime, flag cat ears, flag flags. Sorry guys, I’m a
bit of a flag freak. Capoeira is a
Brazilian martial art. It involves acrobatics
and dance and music. It’s sort of
different and fun. You have to have
good reflexes, hand eye coordination,
and be able to react. A roda is where two
people spar in the middle of a big circle. We don’t use it as
a fight any more, we’ve turned it into a bit
of a dance and a fight at the same time. So the people in the
middle are showing all their acrobatics, kicks, takedown,
but it’s also a dance that you just sort of show off. I feel like I’m always
learning something new. Every single class I’m always
learning something different. I love it all basically. Today, right now, we’re
going to be making some super cool decorated digits
that you can put on your wall. So this is what you’re
going to need for this DIY. Hot glue guns, be
careful, they’re hot. Hot glue guns? Cold glue guns. Exactly, maybe
they didn’t know. Plastic or metal numbers. This container. No, you don’t
need the container, you need the things
inside the container. No, I was going to
say this container full of random things. Oh, tape, and pom poms. And some string or
yarn, or whatever. Embroidery thread. And em-embroidery thread. Let’s get started. I’m doing a three. I’m going to do the seven. I found this pin,
and it’s a pig. And it is so cute. I might put
these little beads, they’re kind of cool. So far I have put my pig on. Get your pig on. Maybe there’s more animals. There’s another pig! Three pigs on
the number three. This glue gun is actually
working pretty well. You could also make this and
decorate it and then put it on your bedroom door. It could be like
your apartment number. And then you could have your
friends over and be like, ok, go to apartment three. Would you come
if I said that? Of course. I feel like it
sounds cooler. So I’m just going to start
gluing random things on here. I’m going to do another one
just because these are so fun, and I’m going to make
it like everything. Simple silver seven. That was good. Good rhyming. I’m going to do the zero. Let’s see. I’m going to do
