U.S. federal agents raid suspected “birth tourism” sites in California

Authorities in California are probing cases
of so-called “maternity tourism”… zoning in on businesses helping wealthy expectant
Chinese mothers… to give birth in the U.S., to win an American citizenship for their offspring.
Federal agents raided dozens of locations early Tuesday… including those in the Los
Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties… executing search warrants and gathering evidence.
It is not considered illegal for foreign women to give birth in the U.S., but authorities
say they are investigating whether such businesses are coaching the mothers to commit visa and
tax fraud.

  1. If you walk around Fashion Island in Newport Beach or South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa every Chinese woman you will see is pregnant. You will see many of them.
