Tourist Violently Attacked In Harlem


WORKERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE PARTICIPATING IN SIMILAR PROTESTS TONIGHT. A TOURIST IS THE VICTIM OF A VIOLENT ATTACK IN HARLEM. THE MAN WAS WALKING WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND IN BROAD DAYLIGHT WHEN HE WAS SLASHED IN THE NECK. AND NOW POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE PERSON WHO DID IT, UNPROVOKED ATTACK. CBS2’S NICK CALOWAY HAS THIS ONE. Reporter: GRASP CELL PHONE VIDEO SHOWS THE PANIC IN THE MOMENTS AFTER THE ATTACK WHEN A YOUNG COUPLE’S LIVES CHANGED FOREVER. IT HAPPENED AROUND 11:00 A.M. ON ADAM CLAYTON POWELL BOULEVARD NEAR WEST 132nd STREET IN HARLEM. A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS ATTACKED. WITNESSES CALL IT A RANDOM ACT OF VIOLENCE. POLICE CONFIRM THE ATTACK WAS UNPROVOKED. WITNESSES SAY THE ATTACKER CAME FACE TO FACE WITH THE VICTIM BEFORE SLASHING HIM IN THE NECK WITH WHAT LOOKED LIKE A BOX CUTTER. GOOD SAMARITANS AND POLICE RUSHED TO HELP THE MAN. HE WAS TAKEN TO HARLEM HOSPITAL AND IS EXPECTED TO SURVIVE. I’M REALLY AMAZED AND DEVASTATED ABOUT IT, YOU KNOW. AND IT HAPPENED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT RIGHT HERE.
