Queenstown Resort College and Real Journeys among big winners at NZ Tourism Awards Stephen Russell The TSS Earnslaw, owned by Real Journeys, approaches the dock at Walter Peak after crossing Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown. Two Queenstown businesses have won big awards at the New Zealand Tourism Awards in Christchurch. Queenstown Resort College won the Enabler Award for its widely acclaimed Ambassador programme while Real Journeys won the Peoples Choice at the Tourism Industry Awards held in Christchurch. The Peoples Choice award was voted on by customers against 14 other eligible finalists. including the Haka Tourism Group, Skyline Queenstown and YHA New Zealand. Real Journeys chief executive Richard Lauder said he was delighted. Real Journeys was also a finalist in the TIA Business Excellence and Environmental categories. Haka Tourism Group has won the tourism industrys highest accolade, the Air New Zealand Supreme Tourism Award. In just over 10 years, Haka Tourism Group has expanded to include small group, adventure, snow and mountain bike tours, upmarket hostels. a specialist educational brand and high end snow tours. This year it is opening its first two hotels to support the tourism industrys strong visitor growth.
