state – Maharashtra The State of Maharashtra was formed on 1st May 1960 You would be surprised to know post-Independence Maharashtra and Gujarat Were the part of the same province known as the Bombay presidency But on 1st May 1960, it got divided into two states i.e. Gujarat and Maharashtra Let’s look at the map and see where the state of Maharashtra is positioned in India This state is located in the Deccan region of India The Arabian Sea covers the entire western coast of the state The capital of Maharashtra is Mumbai, which is also known as the finance capital of India Let’s talk about religion distribution pattern of Maharashtra The religion distribution is like 79% Hindus, 12% Muslims, 6% Buddhists, 1.25% Jains 1% Christians & rest 1% constitutes of Sikhs,Parsis, and Jews The main language of this state is Marathi Apart from Nagpur, Mumbai is called the winter capital of this state Maharashtra is one of the most industrialized states of India Agriculture, Tourism, Minerals, Banks, Multinational Projects, Automobiles, Electronics, Pharmaceuticals Petrochemicals, Food Processing, and Real Estate are the main source of occupation Besides,Entertainment Industry known as Bollywood,also contributes hugely to its economy Maharashtra is known as the land of Marathas because of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Is considered as the founder of Maratha State The main tourist attractions are Ajanta Ellora caves, Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani, Gateway of India Shirdi, Shani Shignapur, Bibi ka maqbara,Jama Masjid, Daulatabaad fort, Mahalaxmi temple,Haji Ali Navegaon national park, Tadoba national park, Osho Ashram, Dagdusheth Ganapathi Pataleshwar Cave Temple,Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Shinde Chhatri, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum National War Museum, Bund Garden are some of the main attractions Also how can we forget our beloved Siddhivinayak Temple Where not only the Bollywood film stars but also politicians And all other people from all over continuously visit to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha Maharashtra State is surrounded by the Western Ghats The main rivers that flow through this state are the Krishna, Godavari, Tapti and Narmada The state’s topography,as well as the
tropical climate Has resulted in the diversity of flora and fauna You would find Neem, Teak, Mango, Shisam and Jamun trees mainly And when it comes to wildlife Maharashtra boasts of Butterflies, Dog Giant Indian Squirrel, Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Blackbuck,Python, Barking Deer Flying fox, Crocodile,Wolves, Indian Antelope, Neelgai, Hyena, Fishes Bonnet Macaque, Black Napped Hare, and many migratory species of birds Maharashtrian cuisine is quite popular and unique The delicacy of Pav bhaji has been given to this country by Maharashtra Besides, the Indian burger that is Vada Pav, Puran Poli, Modak, Bharli Vangi, Varhadi, Sol Kadhi Bombil fry..are some of the most popular delicacies I am sure that the mere mention of these names would have made you hungry The folk music forms of this state are Lavni, Povada, Bhaleri and Artya Besides, Bhajan and Gondhal are also sung here Let’s take a look at the list of famous personalities born here….Bal Keshav Thackeray, Anna Hazare,Dhanraj Pillai Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Madhuri Dixit are some of the world famous names The perfect time to visit is between October to March So why don’t you pack your bags and book the tickets now It’s time for me to go but with a promise
