The number of tourists visiting Korea this
year will slide by roughly ten－percent， due to the fallout from the outbreak of Middle
East Respiratory Syndrome over the summer. The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute predicts
the number of tourists to Korea this year to drop to between 12 to 13 million.
That′s lower than the 14 million visitors last year.
It also falls well short of an earlier government projection of 15 million made before the MERS
outbreak. The institute projects the decline will pull
the country′s tourism revenue by up to one－point－six－billion U.S. dollars.
The number of Koreans visiting other countries is projected to hit a record－high this year.
