Korea′s monthly tourism revenue hits $1.5 bil. in Aug., second highest total eve

The summer of 2014 was one to remember for
Korea′s tourism sector. New figures from the Bank of Korea and the
Korea Culture and Tourism Institute show that tourism revenue… hit more than 1-and-a-half
billion U.S. dollars last month. That′s up 50 percent on-year and the second
highest monthly total ever, following only July of this year.
The record numbers coincide with a record number of Chinese tourists coming to Korea.
Four million Chinese visited the country in the January to August period, up nearly 40
percent on-year. In August, Chinese tourists made up more than
half of all foreign visitors to Korea.
